David Howes - I was an OS on the St Essylt in 1957. To the
best of my recollection, we sailed from London to Las Palmas? then
Rio de Janeiro, Santos, Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Rosario and return
to London (possibly via Las Palmas). I think we carried 12
passengers and a Chinese catering crew. The food was excellent. I
have misplaced my seaman's discharge book so I can't give exact
dates for the voyage. However, I seem to remember spending Christmas
1957 at sea.
Gordon Wicks - I served
on the "Essylt" for 2 trips to SA. The first one as an AB & the
second as a Lamptrimmer. Dec 57 to Mar 58. I moved on to Cunard as a
Quartermarshal on the "Ivernia" to the States and back because of my
pending marriage
