Russ Beaumont I sailed on the
Huntingdon 1957/59 4 trips to NZ starting as a fresh from sea school
stewards boy and rising to the dizzy heights of assistant steward.
It was a happy ship mostly the same crowd. I enjoyed sailing round
the NZ coast along with the wild parties on board and ashore.
Unfortunately the ships reputation came to the attention of the
captain and when we got home to the UK he sacked the catering dept.
I remember saying to the chief steward homeward bound what's the old
man sacking us for doesn't he like us? His reply was he doesn't even
want to sail on the same ocean as you lot. I'm sure we weren't that
bad. Happy days |
