Castle Line she was a sister ship to the Rhodesia Castle and Kenya
Castle, and they provided a regular Round Africa passenger cargo
service from London. The Braemar Castle went west about calling at
Rotterdam, Las Palmas, Ascension and St Helena then up the east
coast of Africa, through Suez and home via Marseilles, Genoa and
Gibraltar. The other ships went east about calling at the same ports
but in the reverse direction.
They were 17,041 grt and 546 ft long and built during the period
1951- 52. The Rhodesia and Braemar Castles were broken up during
1966 - 67, and the Kenya Castle was sold to the Chandris Line in
1968 and renamed Amerikanis. She was broken up in 2001.
