Joined the school 20.2.1961 left for sea on 9.6.61. Rated Petty Officer boy and awarded the Thomas Gray Memorial Trust Prize for 1961, attended at Mansion House. Came ashore in 1974 after sailing with many of the companies out of Royal Albert and KG5 Docks as well as colliers on the North East Coast.

Finished my sea time as QM of a car ferry out of Newhaven, Sussex. On page 15 of the 'photos, one entitled 'Grace' with Charlie Porte, that's me alongside him with the PO's Badge. Also in the 1960 school photo, I'm 4th from left, rear row in the 'photo. It's a great website, so many faces remembered. Widowed now and back 'at sea' living and cruising my 40 foot steel Gaff Cutter in retirement .... see can't stay away from the sea.
