Ian went for further study at the Institute of Technology - by this time he was now ready to go back to sea but got side tracked and happily married.
2011 - After a short but heroic battle
against pancreatic cancer Ian Riddell passed away 23rd January 2011, in
Melbourne, Australia.

Ian was at PWSTS in 1966, Hesperus class of 18.
He attended Dover Technical College
with ERB's for Esso and BP. He went on the Esso Edinburgh in 1967 for a long
stint at sea, returning home with some good advise and went back to school to
study Mechanical Engineering with the engineering industrial training board and
was offered a late apprenticeship and became a qualified mechanical engineer in
1972.
