Greg Bright
I only spent 5 years at sea following my time
at PWSTS; but looking back on it, this was the most formative time of my life
and I will always be grateful for the great start PWSTS gave me. In 1970 I left
the sea and returned to Birmingham, my birthplace. I joined Birmingham Fire
Brigade which changed its name to the West Midlands Fire Service on local
government re-organisation in 1974. I stayed with them until retirement in 2000.
I was a Station Officer at Erdington Fire Station in North Birmingham for the
final 20 years.
I then took a year off work, and spent part of that time travelling around the
world (by air!) with my wife, Dianne. We visited many of the places I'd been to
during my five years at sea.
I worked part-time in the Admin Dept. of West Mercia Constabulary for a couple
of years, and now work just one day a week, again in the Admin Dept., at our
local Sainsbury's in Redditch, Worcestershire.
