Minutes of the meeting of the
PLANNING Committee held at the Council Offices, Whitfield
Thursday 25 November 2004 at 6.00 pm.
326 ITEMS DEFERRED
The Development Control Manager advised the Committee that negotiations
regarding the provision of social housing in respect of Application Nos.
DOV/04/0938 and 0939 had resulted in the applicants confirming that 30% of
the development could consist of social housing, thereby providing eleven
units. The outstanding matters relating to bats and archaeology had also
been resolved. The application was therefore recommended for approval on
the terms and conditions as set out in the report to Committee on 30
September 2004, subject to condition (v) referring specifically to the
eleven units, to conditions regarding archaeology and an informative in
respect of the possible presence of bats on site.
Application No DOV/03/0061 was reported
elsewhere on the Agenda. The Committee received the views of Members
visiting the site in respect of
Application No DOV/04/1001 and was advised that, since the site visit, a
fax had been received from the Architect referring to the feasibility of
widening the access to the site to allow for improved visibility. As that
had not formed part of the present application, the recommendation for
refusal on grounds of visibility remained.
RESOLVED: (a) That, subject to the variation of condition (v) regarding
the eleven units of social housing and archaeological conditions, together
with an informative regarding the possible presence of bats on the site,
Application Nos. DOV/04/0938 and 0939 (Part Conversion and Part
Demolition of Existing Building and Construction of New Building to form
35 flats, Prince of Wales House, Princes Street, Dover) be approved in
accordance with the recommendation of the Chief Planning and Building
Control Officer as set out on pages 65 and 66 of the report to Committee
on 30 September 2004.
