I have fond memories of the time at PWSTS, enjoyed every day. Charlie Porte what a great man, from the first day being met at the station by Kiwi Quinn one of my class mates to the day I left with Tom Bell for sea. We were joined the next day by John Williams and Roger Lee. All signed on SS Oronsay as Deck Boys stayed four trips got ratings J.O.S before splitting up and going our own ways. I went on the S.S Orion as SOS doing two trips until coming ashore.

I often wondered what happened to my mates. After being employed as a van driver, plasterer, printer, insurance agent I finished up 21 years as a prison officer working at Dover Prison (Top of the Hill) which I also enjoyed every day. Did not want to retire.
