January-May 1955. I was 15 years and 8 months at the time I entered the school. I was 5 feet and 3 inches tall, all of which were the minimum requirements. There is a photo of me and my companion leaving the school to join our first ship. It is listed under the heading 1956. I have another photo taken at the same time but with a different background with the caption " of to join their first ship".

My mother received a copy with a request to sign a release as the Society wished to use it for a national campaign. She did. What they did I do not know. I served on the Orient Line's Orcades until December 1955 by which time my romantic view of life had given way to reality. I migrated to the USA in December 1956. I went to school. Served in the US Army. Got married and had 4 children and 14 grandchildren. I enjoyed a 30+ year career as a private banker in Beverly Hills, Ca. I will always be grateful to the discipline and confidence I gained from attending the PWSTS Dover. I am extremely pleased to have found your web site. If you would like a copy of the photo I referred to let me know. Signing off at 6 ft and 15 stone.
